Fighter Abs Finisher
Guest Post from Andrew Raposo
We all know about the great debate whether you rather look like the marathon runner or the sprinter. Now we obviously don’t want to look like a marathon runner. The sprinter on the other hand would be a very pleasing build to have.
So what’s the common argument that we might see?
“If you want to look like a sprinter, you have to train like one.”
…And you might see something like this:
“If you train like a marathon runner, (doing count countless hours of slow cardio) you will end up looking like one.”
We obviously want to look like the sprinter over the marathon runner any day. Not that there’s anything wrong with running a marathon. But when we’re looking for an aesthetically appealing physique, a marathon runner isn’t exactly a go to.
I’m going to take this a step further. What if we want to look like a fighter?
Have you ever watched a fight on TV? These guys are completely RIPPED. Fighters, by far, have the best athletic physique in sport today.
I don’t know about you, but I would rather look like the fighter over the sprinter any day. I might be a bit biased, (since I am a fighter) but if you saw a fight TV before, then you know what I’m talking about.
One thing I would like to point out is the fighter’s midsection. Fighters have the best set of ripped six-pack abs compared to any other athlete. Fitness models don’t even have the type of abs that fighters have.
On top of that, fighters have tremendous core strength. If you’re getting hit in the stomach, you better believe you’re going to have to do some type of specialized core training.
BUT you don’t have to get hit in the stomach to get abs like a fighter. You don’t even have to step in the ring.
Remember, imitate the training that they do and you will look like them.
Today I’ve got a great Fighter Ab Finisher that you can easily throw in at the end of your workout. I am warning you though… it aint easy.
First I will present the circuit, then I’ll provide modifications for you to build up to this.
With great core strength comes great abs. This is a sample core workout that fighters use to get their shredded six-pack.
Long Plank Walkouts – 5 Reps
Long Plank Armpit Touches – 10 Reps Each Side
Box Plank – 10 Reps Each Side
Plank Side Touches – 10 Reps Each Side
Rest 60-90 Seconds (Rest as needed during the circuit)
Repeat for a total of 3 rounds
Modified Version
Push Up Position Armpit Touches – 10 Reps Each Side
Box Plank – 10 Reps Each Side
Plank Side Touches – 10 Reps Each Side
Rest 60-90 Seconds (Rest as needed during the circuit)
Repeat for a total of 3 rounds
Like I said, it’s a tough workout. If it were your first time attempting this, I would recommend doing the modified version first.
Once you can do the actual workout, your core strength will go through the roof and your abs will be rock solid.
